These delightfully warm and playfully designed nomadic rugs called Tuylu are just the thing for cold weather. These rugs are handcrafted as cottage industry in the village of Karapinar in the Taurus mountain region of Turkey. Each rug is unique as the weaver uses the resources available to her. No two rugs are exactly alike, the sizes, coloring and motifs change slightly. These rugs availble through Kececi have been hand picked from the village with an eye on natural colors as well as quality of the wool and workmanship. Anyone interested can contact us to see the catalogue of aproximately 50 pieces that are available. Prices range from $200 to $500 depending on the sizes.
These rugs are perfect for cold weather activities, keep one rolled in the car for sitting on while out on skiing and skating trips. Also delightful for home use on beds and couches when the thermostats are turned down!
